NRG Players Excel at Level 4 Summer Smash Open

August 24 to 26, 2024, Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida, hosted the Level 4 Summer Smash Open. This tournament brought together 240 talented young female tennis players from across the united states to compete in the Girls 12U to 18U divisions. Among the competitors were four players from NRG: Sofia Dvortsova, Nevette Turner, Vanna Turner, and Victoria Maria Leavitt.

Sofia Dvortsova

In the first round, she defeated Maddin Montenegro from Palm City with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory. In the quarterfinals, Sofia overcame the #3 seed, Helena Xue from Wellington, in a thrilling three-set match, 4-6, 7-5, 10-5. Her semifinal performance was equally impressive as she triumphed over the #2 seed, Victoria Narti, with a score of 0-4, 4-2, 7-2. In the finals, Sofia faced off against the top seed, Alisa Shifrin, and although she fought valiantly, she was narrowly defeated 6-4, 6-4. Sofia’s journey to the finals highlighted her resilience and skill, making her a standout performer in the tournament.

Nevette Turner

Nevette faced a challenging draw but exhibited commendable determination. She lost her first-round match to the #4 seed, Alisa Kuteneva, with a score of 6-1, 6-3. However, Nevette bounced back in the consolation rounds. She secured a victory against Kira Suleimanova, 0-6, 7-6 (7-2), and advanced after a default. In the consolation semifinals, Nevette defeated Mila Rukosuev 1-4, 5-3, 8-6. Despite a loss in the consolation finals to Abigail Sewell (6-4, 6-2), Nevette’s performance in the consolation rounds demonstrated her perseverance and competitive spirit.

Vanna Turner

Vanna had an impressive run, showcasing her strong form throughout the tournament. She won her first-round match against Tamara Korneeva 6-1, 6-2, and continued her winning streak in the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Bindi Ramnarace. In the semifinals, Vanna faced Luciana Vasquez Yepes but came up short with a scoreline of  4-1, 4-1. Vanna’s performances highlighted her potential, making her one of the standout players in the Girls 12U division.

Victoria Maria Leavitt

Victoria Maria Leavitt, the #4 seed, faced a tough start in the tournament. She lost her first-round match to Mia Ingco 6-4, 6-1. In the consolation rounds, Victoria faced Bindi Ramnarace again but was defeated 4-0, 4-2. Despite the challenging outcomes, Victoria’s participation in the tournament provided valuable experience and exposure to high-level competition.
