This past weekend, the USTA held a highly successful sectional camp at the renowned Biltmore Tennis Center in Coral Gables, Florida. The event gathered 11 of the top 12U female players from across the state of Florida for two intensive days of skill-building drills, mental conditioning talks, and competitive matchplay. The camp was part of the USTA’s ongoing efforts to develop and nurture young talent, and it provided a unique opportunity for these young athletes to train under the guidance of USTA National Coaches.
Throughout the two full days, the players participated in rigorous tennis drills designed to challenge their technical skills and improve their performance on the court. In addition to the physical training, the camp also emphasized the importance of mental toughness and sportsmanship—key components of success in both tennis and life. The players had the chance to learn from experts in sports psychology, gaining valuable insights into how to stay focused, manage stress, and maintain a positive mindset during high-pressure situations.
At the conclusion of the camp, the USTA coaches recognized outstanding performance both on and off the court by presenting two prestigious awards. The Resilience Award was given to Helena Xue of Wellington, Florida.
The Sportsmanship Award was presented to Nevette Turner, a talented young player from Lake Worth, Florida, for her exemplary attitude, respect for others, and fair play throughout the camp.
Congratulations to Nevette for her well-deserved Sportsmanship Award, and to all the players who participated in this special weekend of development at the Biltmore Tennis Center.
