November 30, 2024 – In a thrilling tournament at Red Bug Lake Park, Catherine Chan, the No. 4 seed, claimed the title at the Level 4 event, overcoming a series of tough opponents.
Chan received a first-round bye and began her campaign in the Round of 32, where she defeated Adanna Okereke 6-1, 6-4. After easily taking the first set, Chan fought back from a 2-0 and 3-1 deficit in the second set to win 6-4. In the Round of 16, she triumphed over Kira Suleimanova 6-3, 7-6 (2). Despite being down 1-4 and 2-5 in the second set, Chan mounted a comeback to win 7-6 in a tiebreaker.
In the quarterfinals, Chan beat Constanza Fernandez 6-4, 6-2.
The semifinals proved to be another challenge as she lost the first set 2-6 but rallied back to win the second set 7-5, finishing with a 10-6 victory in the super tiebreaker against Emma Dobrean.
The final match saw Chan face top seed Alexis Wu. After losing the first set 2-6 and trailing 4-5, then 5-6 in the second, Chan saved two match points. She ultimately won the set in a tiebreaker 7-6 (3), before cruising to a 10-3 victory in the super tiebreaker to secure the title.
